Erin is correct that Dedue is about to stress about it. But she does have a point. His Highness is certainly capable of defending himself. But he still should not be rushing off on his own. Dedue bites his tongue anyway.
Dedue feels simultaneous relief at knowing that Erin is aware of the truth and concern that she might use it against His Highness. There is no reason here for assassination, but Dedue has encountered enough of the attempts that he is always at least a little bit on guard.
“You did not know,” he sighs. “But even so, it was unnecessary. You cannot force another to forget their past. Still, I thank you for the apology. I was not expecting it.”
